A Relaxing Break at Nordpark Café – Patience Required

During our stroll through Düsseldorf’s serene Nordpark, we decided to stop at Nordpark Café for a light lunch. Located right by the Aquazoo, this café offers a charming spot to unwind amidst greenery, with a vibe that’s perfect for families, couples, or anyone looking to recharge after exploring the park.

We ordered two dishes: a Caesar salad and a Burrata auf Salat mit ½ getrockneten Tomaten & Pesto (Burrata on salad with sun-dried tomatoes and pesto). The Caesar salad was a classic—crisp romaine lettuce, crunchy croutons, and a creamy dressing with a good balance of garlic and anchovy notes. The parmesan shavings added a nice touch, though the portion felt a bit modest for the price. It was fresh and satisfying, but nothing extraordinary.

The Burrata dish, however, stole the show. The creamy burrata paired beautifully with the tangy sun-dried tomatoes and the vibrant, herby pesto. The salad base—mostly arugula with a light olive oil dressing—added a peppery freshness that complemented the richness of the cheese. The portion was generous, and the flavors felt vibrant and well-balanced, making it a perfect light meal for a sunny day in the park.

One downside: the service. As a heads-up, bring some patience! The servers were friendly but noticeably slow. We waited nearly 30 minutes for our food, and it wasn’t even peak hour. Some reviews online echo this sentiment, mentioning long waits and occasional unfriendliness, though others praise the staff’s warmth. It seems like a hit-or-miss depending on the day. That said, the peaceful setting—bright interiors with large windows, floral wallpaper, and an outdoor terrace surrounded by trees—made the wait bearable. The café also has a playground nearby, which is great for families with kids.

Conclusion:
Nordpark Café is a lovely spot for a casual meal in a beautiful park setting. The Burrata salad was a highlight, and the Caesar salad was decent, but don’t expect speedy service. It’s perfect for a relaxed outing if you’re not in a rush. We’d return, but maybe on a quieter day—and with a bit of patience in tow.
