We were fortunate to spend a wonderful stay in Malaga in February with the whole family. This charming city, full of contrasts, is the perfect destination for a family getaway, offering beautiful beaches, exciting attractions, and a Mediterranean atmosphere. Despite the cooler temperatures in February, the mild climate allowed us to enjoy every moment outdoors.
From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the beauty of the old town. One of the highlights of our stay was our visit to the Sea Life Aquarium, located near the port. This fascinating place allowed the whole family to discover marine life, with tanks filled with colorful fish, sharks, rays, and even turtles. The kids especially enjoyed observing these marine creatures up close in an interactive and fun setting, and the educational exhibits enriched our experience.
But Malaga is also home to the historic Alcazaba, a Moorish fortress from the 11th century offering spectacular views of the city and the sea. We explored its lush gardens and imposing walls, while enjoying breathtaking panoramas. A little higher up, Gibralfaro Castle offered an even more impressive experience with its fortifications and stunning views of the coast.
The Playa de la Malagueta was a lovely spot to relax as a family, even though the sea was still chilly. The promenade along the beach is a great place to stroll and soak up the winter sun, with plenty of restaurants where we enjoyed local specialties like fried fish.
In addition to our time in Malaga, we had the opportunity to visit several beautiful destinations nearby. Ronda, with its spectacular bridge spanning the gorges, left us in awe. The town, perched on a mountain, offers breathtaking panoramas and an authentic atmosphere that charmed us all.
We also explored Nerja, famous for its pristine beaches and the famous Caves of Nerja, a true natural treasure. Visiting the caves, with their spectacular formations, was a highlight of our trip, enjoyed by both kids and adults alike. Nerja, with its whitewashed streets and views of the sea, is the perfect place to unwind with the family.
Lastly, we had a pleasant time in Benalmádena, with its Parque de la Paloma, ideal for a family stroll. The Puerto Marina, with its shops and seaside restaurants, was also a lovely place to wander.
In summary, our month in Malaga, with visits to Ronda, Nerja, and Benalmádena, was a complete success. The city and its surroundings offer the perfect mix of culture, relaxation, and exploration, ensuring that everyone, young and old, found something to enjoy. We left with many fond memories and the desire to return to explore even more of this beautiful region.
