Spending Christmas in London feels like stepping into a fairy tale. From late November, the city lights up with festive decorations and offers a magical atmosphere that can be felt on every street corner. The Christmas lights transform the capital into a true winter wonderland.
Among the must-see streets, Regent Street is famous for its stunning illuminated angels floating above the road. Just around the corner, Oxford Street dazzles with thousands of twinkling lights suspended in the air, and its shop windows are a feast for the eyes—perfect for a family stroll.
Carnaby Street adds a fun and quirky touch, with bold, creative themes that change every year. Not far away, Covent Garden delights visitors with its giant Christmas tree, glowing arches, and cozy, romantic feel. It’s the ideal spot for a warm drink or magical moment with your children.
Bond Street, known for its elegance, shines with luxurious displays and stylish light decorations that add a festive charm.

One of our favorite moments was visiting Hamleys, the largest toy store in London, located right on Regent Street. It’s a true paradise for children, spread across several floors. You’ll find live toy demonstrations, giant stuffed animals, games, LEGO sets, and more. It’s not just a store—it’s a joyful experience in itself. You can catch a glimpse in our video!
We also visited Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, but our experience there was a bit more mixed. Although there are plenty of attractions, rides, and food stalls, we felt that it lacked the true Christmas spirit we were expecting. The festive decorations were minimal, and the atmosphere leaned more towards a funfair than a magical Christmas village. That said, if you or your children enjoy rides and entertainment, it’s still a place worth visiting. Important tip: Tickets to Winter Wonderland must be booked online in advance—if not, you might not be allowed in at all, especially on busy days. Be sure to reserve early to avoid disappointment.
Parent Tip: If you plan to admire the lights with your kids, be warned—some of the more popular streets, like Oxford and Regent, can get very crowded, especially in the evenings and on weekends. Tourists are everywhere—sometimes even a little too much—and unfortunately, not everyone is polite. For a more enjoyable family outing, consider going earlier in the evening or on a weekday when the vibe is more relaxed and child-friendly.
