Family-Friendly or Not? Our Honest Review of Ibis Styles Chalon-sur-Saône

On our journey from the south of France back to Luxembourg, we decided to make a stopover at the Ibis Styles Hotel in Chalon-sur-Saône. Conveniently located right next to the A6 motorway, this hotel turned out to be a practical and comfortable choice for a restful night on the road.

Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly by the reception staff. They were friendly and attentive, which immediately gave us a good impression. The hotel itself is modern, clean, and well-maintained. We especially appreciated the comfortable bedding, which allowed us to get a good night’s sleep after a long day of driving.

Our room was spacious and quiet, which made for a peaceful stay. The amenities were functional, though we would have liked a power outlet closer to the bed for charging our phones. The bathroom was clean and well-equipped with all the essentials.

As we were traveling with a young child, the hotel had provided a baby cot — however, unfortunately, it was broken. Thankfully, we had brought our own travel cot. So, if you’re traveling with a baby, I strongly recommend bringing your own just in case.

Breakfast, which was included in our booking, was definitely a highlight. The buffet offered a nice variety: fresh pastries, fruit, yogurt, fruit juices, and hot drinks — everything we needed for a good start to the day.

We didn’t have dinner at the hotel as the restaurant was closed that Sunday evening, but there are a few dining options nearby if you need something simple. It’s a good idea to check restaurant hours in advance.

Another great feature was the free and secure parking, including charging stations for electric vehicles — a big plus if you’re traveling by EV like we were.

In summary, the Ibis Styles in Chalon-sur-Saône is a very good choice for a stopover. Comfortable rooms, cleanliness, a quality breakfast, and a convenient location make it a hotel I would gladly recommend for travelers needing a pleasant break between two long driving legs.
