The Living Postcard

C hassepierre is one of those places that just catches you by surprise. It’s tucked away in the Gaume region, following the curves of the Semois, and honestly, the second you step onto those old cobbled streets, you feel like you’ve walked into a painting. There’s no rush here—just stone houses, ivy, and that quiet, timeless atmosphere.

I spent a good while just wandering without a map. The Saint Martin church is the heart of the village, and the view over the valley from there is incredible. But my favorite spot had to be the old stone bridge. I just sat there for a bit, listening to the river. It’s simple, but it’s exactly what makes this place so special.

Most people know the village for the International Street Arts Festival in August. It’s when the whole place turns into a massive open-air theater. But even outside of the festival, you can feel that creative spark in the local workshops and galleries.

And of course, you can't leave without tasting the Gaume. Whether it’s a local craft beer or a dish made with fresh ingredients from the valley, the food here is as authentic as the scenery. Leaving Chassepierre felt like leaving a hidden treasure behind. It’s easily one of the most captivating "gems" I’ve found in Belgium so far.
