Every year, as December wraps the world in a shimmering winter glow, the charming village of Belvaux becomes a haven of Christmas enchantment. At the heart of this festive transformation lies one of the region’s most delightful family experiences: the Santa Claus House. More than just an attraction, it’s an immersive journey into the warm and whimsical world of Christmas magic. From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere shifts. Snow-dusted pine trees, glowing garlands, and carefully placed decorations create the feeling of crossing into a storybook. Here, in this tiny enchanted village, elves are busy crafting toys, children’s letters are stacked high on wooden shelves, and the spirit of Christmas seems to float in the air like glittering snowflakes. Each room in the Santa Claus House tells its own story. Visitors discover the elves’ workshop, filled with colorful toys, miniature tools, and handwritten wish lists from all over the world. A few steps further lies the inviting kitchen, where the comforting scent of warm cocoa and freshly baked cookies seems to embrace every visitor. Children explore wide-eyed, captivated by every detail, while adults rediscover the heartwarming nostalgia of their own childhood holiday memories. The true highlight of the visit is the encounter with Santa Claus himself. In Belvaux, this magical moment feels intimate and authentic—far from the hustle and bustle of crowded shopping centers. Santa welcomes families from his cozy armchair, surrounded by soft lights and festive ornaments. He takes his time with each child, listening to their wishes, sharing smiles, and offering a little moment of pure Christmas magic. For many families, this becomes the most memorable part of the entire experience. Stepping outside, the fairy tale continues. Illuminated decorations, polar-themed installations, and playful surprises invite families to explore further. Laughter echoes through the air as children run from one display to the next, while parents capture each magical moment in photos filled with winter joy. The Santa Claus House in Belvaux isn’t just a seasonal outing—it’s a heartwarming escape that brings families together. It’s a place where imagination thrives, where wonder shines brightly, and where Christmas spirit is felt in its purest form. Whether you’re visiting from nearby or planning a special holiday trip, Belvaux offers a truly unforgettable immersion into Santa’s world. And when the visit ends, a little bit of that magic travels home with you—lingering like a warm glow in the heart, long after the festive season is over. 🚒 A Weekend with Luxembourg’s Heroes: Professional Firefighters at Cloche d’Or
This past weekend, a special event took place at Cloche d’Or: the professional firefighters of the City of Luxembourg opened their doors to the public, offering both children and adults a closer look at one of the most essential and courageous professions. It was a rare chance to meet those who, day after day, put their own lives on the line to protect ours. From the very first steps into the event, the atmosphere was both festive and educational. The bright red fire trucks, polished and gleaming, immediately captured the attention of the youngest visitors, while adults admired the impressive vehicles and equipment on display. Ladders, rescue gear, emergency tools, and live demonstrations provided a real glimpse into the firefighters’ daily reality — a job that demands bravery, precision, and dedication. But this was far more than just an exhibition. It was a true immersion into their world. Firefighters took time to explain their duties, showcase the life-saving equipment they use, and describe the realities of their missions — moments often marked by urgency, risk, and teamwork. For children, a dedicated kids’ corner was set up, where they could play, learn, and discover the importance of fire safety in a fun way. However, one detail deserves attention: the behavior of certain parents and children was at times difficult, slightly disturbing the experience. The miniature firefighter cars for kids were a wonderful idea, but they lacked proper organization. A closed circuit or guided track would have allowed every child to enjoy the ride in a fair and safe manner. Even so, the firefighters remained patient, welcoming, and professional, always ready to answer questions and share their passion. The event reminded us that firefighting is not only about putting out fires. Their work includes road accidents, natural disasters, medical emergencies, and countless other situations where every second counts. Beyond their interventions, firefighters also play a vital role in prevention and education. Events like this strengthen the bond between the community and its protectors, teaching children and adults alike the importance of safety, responsibility, and respect for this profession. Leaving Cloche d’Or, one could only feel deep respect and gratitude toward these men and women. Every siren we hear in the streets of Luxembourg is not just noise — it is a call answered by a team ready to act, to protect, and to save. 👉 This weekend was not only a chance to learn and to celebrate; it was also a reminder of the courage, dedication, and humanity that define Luxembourg’s firefighters.
The 685th Schueberfouer – A Timeless Celebration in Luxembourg
When I think of summer in Luxembourg City, my first thought always goes to the Schueberfouer—a lively, magical tradition that dates back to 1340, when John I of Luxembourg, also known as John the Blind, founded this fair to strengthen regional trade . Over the centuries, what began as an agricultural market has transformed into one of Europe’s most beloved fun fairs, held from late August to early September on the Glacis (Champ du Glacis). This year marks the 685th edition of the Schueberfouer, and it promises to be as vibrant as ever. From 22 August to 10 September, the site will come alive with over 200 attractions, a dazzling mix of adrenaline-pumping rides, charming children’s attractions, food stands, traditional food like the famous gromperekichelcher (potato fritters), and nostalgic stalls where you can find everything from nougat to wooden toys. The official opening on Friday, 22 August, features the traditional “Ham a Kuch” reception, hosted by the city’s burgomaster and aldermen. I won’t lie—the prices have crept upward. For example, three gromperekichelcher now cost €7.50 . Rides can run between €6 and €9, and even simple snacks or drinks can feel pricey compared to other local fun fairs . Yet, in spite of this upward trend, a single day at the fair remains doable and enjoyable, especially if you go in with a little planning and budget in mind. The Schueberfouer is still possible to enjoy responsibly—skip the most expensive ride, share a snack, or indulge in just one or two treats. That way, you can soak in the atmosphere, ride a few favorites, taste local delicacies, and maybe still save enough for exposure to the festive fair’s charms. For a one-day experience, it’s still very accessible. Beyond the rides and snacks, the fair brings a vibrant atmosphere you won’t find anywhere else. The police presence is strong and reassuring, with a dedicated booth between the main entrance and the Grand Theatre—and they even offer a free « lost children » prevention service, so families can register kids and receive a safety sticker to ensure swift reunions if anyone gets separated . Getting there has become easier, too. Normal bus and tram lines run as usual and are free during the event. There’s also a free shuttle service (Navette 37) running from early afternoon until late night between Bouillon Park & Ride and the fairground. In the end, the Schueberfouer remains a wonderful experience—a unique mix of tradition, gastronomy, rides, and community energy that still feels like the heart of Luxembourg in summer. Even with rising costs, it’s still one of the most rewarding ways to spend a day—and a memory you’ll carry long after the cotton candy’s gone. If you’re planning a family trip to the Schueberfouer, make sure to mark the special discount days on your calendar. On Family Day, Wednesday 27 August 2025, all rides, attractions, and food stands offer 30% off, making it the perfect time to enjoy the fair without stretching your budget. And don’t miss the Half-Price Day on Wednesday 10 September 2025, when everything is 50% cheaper until 8 pm — an ideal moment to let the kids enjoy their favorite rides one last time. With these special days, the Schueberfouer becomes not only a magical experience but also a budget-friendly outing for the whole family.
Taking Luxembourg to New Heights – The LOOK 360° Panorama Experience
During our visit to Luxembourg City, we couldn’t resist trying out the much-talked-about LOOK 360° Panorama — the panoramic tower currently installed on Place de la Constitution, right beside the Gëlle Fra monument. Honestly? We didn’t expect it to be this impressive. From the ground, the tower already stands out: 71 meters tall, sleek and modern, it’s currently the tallest mobile panoramic platform in the world. Watching it slowly spin above the city was enough to make us curious… and excited. 🎟️ Easy Access, Smooth Ride We didn’t have to wait long. Tickets were available right on-site, and the boarding was quick and organized. The cabin itself is fully glazed, climate-controlled, and even accessible to strollers and wheelchairs — a big plus for families or anyone with reduced mobility. As we started to ascend, we felt a small thrill… but mostly awe. The city slowly unfolded beneath us: the cathedral, the Old Quarters, the casemates, the Adolphe Bridge, the Pétrusse Valley, and even the Kirchberg business district in the distance. It was like floating over a living postcard. 📸 A 360° View Like No Other The ascent is smooth and silent, and the platform gently rotates, so you get a full panoramic view without moving a step. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a longtime resident, it’s the kind of perspective that gives you a fresh appreciation for the city. We took amazing photos, with no glare or reflection thanks to the large windows. Honestly, this might just be one of the best ways to discover Luxembourg City. 🍹 A Great Spot to Chill At the base of the tower, there’s a vibrant atmosphere with food and drink stands, and on Wednesdays and Saturdays, you can enjoy the Stater Maart (local market) until the end of May. We grabbed a snack, watched the tower in motion, and soaked up the summer vibe — it all added to the charm of the visit. 🎯 Final Thoughts? If you’re in Luxembourg before mid-June, make sure to check out the LOOK 360°. It’s not every day you get to see a city from this kind of perspective, and at only €8 per adult, it’s well worth it for the quality, safety, and wow-factor. We’re already hoping it comes back next year — it’s an unforgettable ride.
Welcome to Our Family Adventure at the Nicolas Bouglione Circus!
For our third family circus adventure, we set our enchanted sights on the Nicolas Bouglione Circus, which had pitched its tents at the iconic Place de Glacis in Luxembourg City. This much-anticipated outing promised a magical experience, and we couldn’t wait to immerse ourselves in the timeless wonder of the circus. From the moment we arrived, the magic began to unfold. The vibrant, colorful tents stood proudly under the evening sky, illuminated by twinkling spotlights that danced across the scene. The air buzzed with excitement as families gathered, and the warm, inviting atmosphere immediately swept us into the spirit of the circus. The faint scent of popcorn mingled with the lively chatter of children, setting the stage for an unforgettable evening. Stepping inside the main tent, we were greeted by a cozy yet exhilarating ambiance. The rows of seats were quickly filling up, and we found our spots just as the lights dimmed and the music swelled. The show began with a burst of energy, and from the very first act, it was clear that the Nicolas Bouglione Circus had something special in store for us. Acrobats soared through the air with breathtaking precision, their daring flips and spins drawing gasps from the audience. Jongleurs dazzled us with their skillful routines, juggling flaming torches and shimmering rings in perfect harmony. And of course, the clowns brought their timeless charm, weaving through the acts with slapstick humor that had the entire tent erupting in laughter. The performance was a whirlwind of emotions—a seamless blend of awe, joy, and wonder that captivated both children and adults alike. One particularly memorable moment was the tightrope act, where a performer balanced high above the ring, executing intricate steps with a grace that seemed almost otherworldly. Our 4-year-old son was on the edge of his seat, his eyes wide with amazement as he clapped enthusiastically after each stunt. The show flowed effortlessly from one act to the next, creating a rhythmic dance of laughter, suspense, and heartfelt moments that kept us all engaged. It’s worth noting that the Nicolas Bouglione Circus has evolved with the times. Gone are the days of animal acts, a change that reflects the growing sensitivity toward animal welfare—a shift we appreciated as a family. Instead, the focus was entirely on human talent, showcasing the incredible skill and creativity of the performers. The show felt modern and thoughtful, with a nod to tradition through classic circus elements like the ringmaster’s charismatic presence, while also embracing a contemporary flair with vibrant costumes and dynamic choreography. This balance made the experience feel both nostalgic and fresh, appealing to all generations in the audience. As adults, we did notice a slight difference compared to last year’s performance. While the previous edition had left us utterly spellbound with its grandeur—perhaps due to a particularly elaborate trapeze act or a more theatrical storyline—this year’s show felt a tad less spectacular in terms of scale. Some acts, while skillfully executed, lacked the jaw-dropping intensity we remembered. For instance, the juggling routine, though impressive, didn’t have the same high-stakes energy as last year’s fire-juggling finale. However, this observation didn’t diminish the overall joy of the experience, especially when viewed through the lens of our son’s delight. Because, in the end, the true magic of the circus lies in the eyes of a child. Watching our son burst into laughter at the clowns’ antics, clap his hands with unbridled enthusiasm, and gaze in awe at the acrobats—his eyes sparkling with wonder—was the real highlight of the evening. Those moments of pure, unfiltered joy are what make outings like this so precious. For him, every leap, every tumble, and every silly gesture was a marvel, and seeing the world through his perspective reminded us why the circus has endured as a beloved tradition for centuries. The Nicolas Bouglione Circus isn’t just a show—it’s a shared memory, a timeless moment that you carry with you long after the final bow. It’s the sound of your child’s laughter echoing in your ears, the warmth of holding their hand as you walk back to the car, and the stories you’ll retell for years to come about “that time at the circus.” For us, it was a beautiful reminder of the simple joys of family outings, where the spectacle on stage is only part of the magic—the rest is in the bonds we strengthen and the memories we create together. Dinosaur Expo at Belval: A Nice Idea… But Not Roar-Worthy
Today, we visited the dinosaur exhibition at the Belval Shopping Center in Esch-sur-Alzette as a family. Offered for free during the Easter holidays (from April 5 to 19, 2025), the concept sounded promising: life-sized dinosaurs placed throughout the shopping arcade, sure to captivate young children… at least in theory. But once there, the reality was quite different. The dinosaurs were indeed scattered throughout the walkways, but the whole setup sorely lacked animation, interaction, or even atmosphere. There was no staff supervision or activities on the day of our visit (which was expected outside of Wednesdays or Saturdays), but even as a purely visual exhibit, it felt very limited. We went with our 4-year-old son, hoping to spark his curiosity. Unfortunately, he was quickly disappointed. There was very little to see, no mascots or workshops, and the visit was over in just a few minutes. Even a little ice cream to lift his spirits couldn’t bring a smile back to his face. It’s clear that this exhibition was intended as a nice initiative, but in practice, it feels more like a strategy to draw families into the center’s shops. This isn’t a outing to plan specifically for the exhibit. However, if you’re already at Belval for shopping or a movie, it might be worth a quick look. But don’t make the trip just for the expo—you might, like us, leave feeling a bit frustrated despite it being free. A good intention, poorly executed. Address:Belval Plaza Shopping Center7 & 14 Avenue du Rock’n’Roll4361 Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg Dates:Until April 19, 2025 Admission:Free entry Schedule:Activities (workshops/mascot) only on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons
Haunted Lake Halloweeks in Remerschen: A Promising Concept Undermined by Poor Organization
From October 23 to November 3, 2024, the Baggerweier site in Remerschen hosted the inaugural edition of Haunted Lake Halloweeks, organized by Erliefnis Baggerweier ASBL in collaboration with Restaurant Le Chalet. This event aimed to offer an immersive Halloween experience, combining spooky entertainment with culinary delights in a picturesque natural setting. 🎃 An Ambitious Halloween Experience The event’s program was designed to cater to all ages, featuring: Additionally, the event supported a charitable cause, with proceeds benefiting Télévie. 😞 A Disappointing Experience Due to Organizational Shortcomings Despite the promising concept, our visit to Haunted Lake Halloweeks was marred by significant organizational issues. The event was scheduled to start at a specific time, yet even thirty minutes past the announced hour, preparations were incomplete, and activities had not commenced. There was a lack of communication from the organizers, leaving attendees, including many families with eager children, in a state of confusion and frustration. This delay and absence of information significantly dampened the festive atmosphere and led to disappointment among visitors who had anticipated a well-orchestrated Halloween celebration. 🔄 Potential for Improvement in Future Editions The concept of Haunted Lake Halloweeks holds substantial potential to become a staple Halloween event in Luxembourg. The combination of thematic entertainment, culinary experiences, and a scenic location is a strong foundation. However, to realize this potential, organizers must address the logistical and communicative shortcomings observed during this edition. Implementing clear communication strategies, adhering to scheduled times, and ensuring that all activities are ready as advertised will be crucial steps in enhancing the overall visitor experience. In summary, while Haunted Lake Halloweeks offers an appealing concept, the execution during its first edition fell short of expectations. With improved organization and attention to detail, future iterations of the event could provide the enchanting and spooky experience that attendees seek during the Halloween season.
