Saints Peter and Paul Church
Built in 1848, the Church of Saints Peter and Paul is the architectural anchor of Bouillon's lower town. Constructed using local schist, sandstone, and limestone, it stands on the site of an ancient Augustinian college.
The Legacy of Godfrey
The interior is defined by three bright naves and a series of frescoes dedicated to Godfrey of Bouillon. These artworks celebrate the town's connection to the Crusades alongside traditional religious scenes. The 19th-century woodwork, including the pulpit and organ case, showcases the regional craftsmanship of the Belgian Ardennes.
A Community Sanctuary
Unlike the military fortress overlooking the valley, this church remains a living parish. Modern stained-glass windows and a 2017 statue of Saint Eloi reflect the ongoing evolution of the site. It offers a stark, quiet contrast to the bustling tourist terraces of Rue des Augustins.
