An Unforgettable Day at Dinopark Teufelsschlucht – A Prehistoric Adventure!

If your little ones love dinosaurs, get ready for a journey back in time! Just a few kilometers across the Luxembourg-German border lies a magical place: the Dinopark Teufelsschlucht, a nature-themed dinosaur park that’s home to an incredible 186 life-sized dinosaurs.

From the moment you enter, it feels like you’ve stepped into another era. Along a well-marked forest trail, you’ll encounter giant dinosaurs in realistic scenes — the fierce Tyrannosaurus rex, the horned Triceratops, feathery dinos, flying reptiles, marine creatures, and even hatching dino babies! The models are impressively lifelike, with some towering several meters high, making it the perfect setting for both awe and imagination.

Along the way, there are informative signs explaining the history, lifestyle, and time period of each species — mostly in German and English. But even for those who can’t read yet, the visuals and scenes are so vivid that kids instantly understand and engage.

There’s more than just walking and looking — the park includes:

  • A fossil excavation area where kids can dig like real paleontologists,
  • A short educational movie about the Earth’s history,
  • Interactive exhibits to touch, listen, and explore,
  • And of course, a playground and a gift shop to end the visit with a smile.

🍔 Lunch on-site: surprisingly tasty, but slow service

After exploring the trail, we decided to grab a bite at the park’s café. The menu is small but family-friendly. We each ordered a burger, and we were pleasantly surprised — the meat was well-cooked, the bun was soft, and the fries were crispy. For theme park food, it was really good!

❗ However, the only downside: there’s just one register for ordering food. So we had to stand in line for quite a while, and then wait another 30 minutes to be served. It’s something to keep in mind, especially during busy times — patience is definitely required.

That said, we found a nice shady table, and once the food arrived, we enjoyed our break. The quality made up for the wait.

📍 Good to know:

  • The park is located in Ernzen, near the famous Teufelsschlucht gorge (also worth a visit!).
  • Free parking is available for one hour.
  • Expect to spend 2 to 3 hours at the park, or longer if you do all the activities and eat there.
  • Don’t forget to stop by the gift shop — it’s full of cool souvenirs, dino figures, books, and toys.

🎒 What to bring:

  • Comfortable walking shoes (the trail is in the forest),
  • A sun hat and sunscreen in summer,
  • A water bottle, though drinks are available on-site,
  • And of course… a camera or phone to capture those Jurassic moments!

The Dinopark Teufelsschlucht is a perfect day trip for families, blending nature, fun, learning, and dinosaurs into one big adventure. Whether you’re four or forty, there’s something magical about walking beside these ancient giants!
